Las olas superaron las expectativas y las condiciones meteorológicas no defraudaron dejando un gran comienzo de competición.
La mejor ola de la mañana se la adjudicó Cristian Portelli con 8,50 puntos sobre 10 puntos.
Comenzó el espectáculo en la Playa de las Américas, Arona, con el comienzo de la competición del Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020, primera parada en España del Tour Europeo de la World Surf League (WSL).
La categoría masculina ha sido la encargada de inaugurar la competición de manera puntual, a las 8:30 horas de la mañana. Los primeros enfrentamientos dejaron clara la determinación de los surfistas y el altísimo nivel que van a ofrecer durante los días de competición, que será del 3 al 9 de febrero.
Más de 100 atletas masculinos participan hoy en una de las pruebas de la World Surf League (WSL) con mayor presencia de surfistas nacionales, especialmente canarios, que cuenta con gran reconocimiento internacional. Hoy se constató la presencia de competidores venidos desde todo el mundo para darse cita en una de las mejoras olas del archipiélago canario.
En esta primera parte de la jornada se completaron las cinco primeras mangas de la primera ronda y la mejor ola de la mañana se la adjudicó Cristian Portelli con una puntuación de 8,50 puntos sobre 10 puntos, mientras que el mejor heat lo ganó Endika Garai con un total de 15,34 puntos (sus dos mejores olas).
A esta cita no faltaron los surfistas más destacados a nivel nacional como Jonathan González quien comentaba que hoy, aún estando el mar un poco inconsistente, es uno de los mejores días de olas de la semana. Aún con los espacios entre series de olas, González consiguió una gran ola en los últimos minutos con la que ganó pase a la siguiente ronda.
Los primeros clasificados para la segunda ronda del Cabreiroá Pro Las Américas 2020, son Jonathan González (España), Martim Carrasco (Portugal), Nacho Sebastia (España), Mael Laborde (Francia), Guilherme Fonseca (Portugal), Robertney Barros (Cabo Verde), Endika Garai (España), Teva Bouchgua (Francia), Cristian Portelli (Suecia) y Joao Vidal (Portugal).
El mejor comienzo posible, gran nivel competitivo, olas sobresalientes, y mejor ambiente en la playa de Las Américas, Arona, Tenerife.
